The weekend Angelique and I had plotted & planned for months finally arrived. We surprised Josh and Jerome for Father's Day with a weekend in San Diego - Sea World on Friday & a deep sea fishing trip on Saturday. We woke up and hit the road early Friday morning, arriving at Sea World around noon.
First up, feeding the Sea Lions. We bought a tray of anchovies and let him toss away. On his fifth and final fish, a bird flew right up and stole it out of his hand - it was awesome!
Next up was the dolphin exhibit. We got to watch the trainers work with the gorgeous creatures, and before the show was over we got the opportunity to pet them as well.
Next the boys picked the aquarium. Coop loved the starfish pond & sting ray pool, as long as it was hands-on, he was happy. The sharks exhibit sparked his interest most, and he LOVED watching them swim around their tanks while we moved thru the underwater tunnel.
We stopped for a turkey leg and Cooper devoured it.
For a bit of relaxation, we took a seat and enjoyed the Shamu show, "One Ocean". We luckily got threw the show without getting soaked, but had we taken seats 2 rows up, we would have been drenched!
Our next stop was the Bay of Play - Sea World's Sesame Street themed kids play area. Cooper wasn't big enough to ride anything alone, so Josh hopped on with him and away they went, while Caedyn slept.
All the boys, Jerome, Gregory, Cooper, & Josh, took their turn on the "Abby's Sea Star Spin" - a take on the teacups from Disney. The amount of giggles coming from their cup was awesome!
Our final stop was at the Shipwreck Rapids. Jerome, Gregory, and I wanted to ride, while the rest of the group decided to sit it out, and to their advantage - WE GOT SOAKED!
After leaving Sea World, we headed straight for our hotel. We stayed right off of Old Town San Diego, so for dinner we took the short walk to Fred's Mexican Cafe. The boys had to be up early Saturday morning to make it on their fishing trip, so we slept in then walked to Fred's once again for breakfast.
While the guys fished, Angelique and I brought the kids to the beach. This was Caedyn's first trip to the ocean, and her first time actually playing in the sand. She's at the age where everything goes straight to the mouth, needless to say she had a few mouthfuls of sand. The boys drug along their sand toys and kept themselves occupied for hours.
After spending all afternoon in the sun, we relaxed back in our hotel room and waited for Josh to get back from his adventure.
When he got back, we heard all about it. According to Josh, I made a mistake introducing him to deep sea fishing, he's found his new love and is already planning a trip to go back. Below are the pictures he took with his new waterproof camera!
On Saturday evening, we met my Uncle Chuck & cousin, Erica, for dinner at Crazee Burger and ice cream. We retired back to our room fairly early, very tired after our long day. We took our time getting up Sunday morning and packing up the car. Before leaving San Diego, we stopped at The Living Room Cafe for a big breakfast to hold us over until Father's Day dinner.
Upon arrival back in Vegas, we went to my brother's since my dad was in town visiting from Houston. Michael made an amazing dinner and we spent the rest of our weekend relaxing and enjoying each other's company.
Happy Father's Day Josh, you're the best Daddy around. I couldn't ask for a better Father for my children. We love you!
