Froggin' & Trollin'

Since Josh got the itch last year, we HAD to go frog giggin' again this summer - the month of July was coming to an end so our opportunity was dwindling. So last weekend, we packed up the truck, Angela came along for the ride, met up with Grammy & Pops, and drove to our giggin' spot.

Once we hit the dirt road, Cooper climbed to the front of our truck while Caedyn made her way to Grammy's lap.

Once we got camp set up, we did a lot of scouting. The water was flowing MUCH quicker than last year, so unfortunately we didn't have the dams like in previous years. Cooper spent most of the day hunting for trolls, his binoculars securely fastened around his neck and his "troll call" down pat.

During one of our expeditions, we came across some fun finds, old railroad ties and spent shotgun shells - Cooper LOVES exploring!

For dinner, we roasted hot dogs over the fire & brats - the kids thought that was the coolest thing ever!

Once the sun set and the stars came out, we suited up and made our way to the creek.

Everyone was armed with a gig, except me, I brought my camera (of course!). Cooper gigged his VERY FIRST frog all by himself, we was SO proud! Between soaking ourselves, wading through "pesto lagoon", and getting completely lost, I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time!

We finished our final expedition soaking, muddy, and tired around 1am - Cooper hung in there until the end! Although the frogs weren't in abundance, we got a total of 19!

Sunday morning, Josh and Cooper skinned and de-legged the frogs for our future feast while the rest of us packed everything back up to make our drive back home.

We made it home early Sunday afternoon, needing a shower and lots of rest, but we had a great time - it was worth each and every mosquito bite ;)
