For Labor Day Weekend, we decided once again, to try and beat the Vegas heat and head out of town for a few nights. After Josh got off work on Friday, we loaded the truck and headed North to Mount Wilson, about 30 miles North of Pioche, to stay at Shorty's place. Once we hit the dirt road, the kids started spotting deer and wild horses!
We relaxed on the patio that evening, while keeping entertained by the kids.
Saturday morning was spent enjoying the cooler weather and light breeze - we went on several Ranger rides and the kids played in the dirt.
We finally got Cooper's quad out, and away he went - He was timid at first, wanting Josh to stay within arms reach, but once he got comfortable he was motoring all around the property. Caedyn got jealous and wanted a ride of her own, so between Shorty and myself, she was kept occupied.
Saturday afternoon, we drove into Pioche to meet up with the Busch crew - both girls brought their quads, so the 3 kids spent the next few hours making laps around the house & shop.
On our drive back up the mountain, we spotted several more deer snacking in the apple orchard.
Sunday morning, after breakfast, we headed right back outside - Cooper jumped right back on his quad.
Shorty brought us around to a few of his friends places - one even had chickens, 3 gardens, & an underground wine cellar!
That evening, we went scouting. We spotted several deer, but with this crazy woman driving, I think we scared most of them away!
On Monday we loaded up the Ranger and drove to the old airstrip to shoot off a few rounds, while the kids took turns driving.
Josh helped each kid take their turn with their rifle - Caedyn likes shooting, but Cooper LOVES it, Josh even taught him how to reload and shoot all on his own!
I found this log and wanted a picture of the kids together sitting on it - neither was too excited about it, Cooper is just a much better actor ;)
Before calling it a weekend and driving back home, as always, I had to get a family picture - totally by coincidence we all were wearing camouflage!
Definitely a successful Labor Day Weekend, and next time we won't wait so long in between trips!
