With this school year coming to a close, Cooper's Kindergarten class put on an end of year celebration to honor each of our students for all of their hard work.
First they performed a musical "Wide Mouthed Frog" - Cooper was a lion & it was ahhhhhdorable!
They also did their own rendition of "New York, New York" which was "First Grade, First Grade"- and the tears started...
After their performance, they each received a diploma.
At the end of the celebration, Mrs. Montemayor surprised us all with a slide slow of photos throughout the year, and the waterworks really began! Below are a few of the photos from the slideshow - beginning at the Meet N Greet, through the fun run, holidays, reading & career weeks, all the way to their final field trip!
By the end of the show, I laughed, but mostly cried - I can't believe our sweet boy is growing up! That evening, while uploading pictures, he spotted the photo above with Mrs. Montemayor, then asked to print & frame it in his room.... awwwwwwwww, we sure are going to miss her!
Gram & Pops even joined for us Cooper's celebration!
And we couldn't end the day without a few photos with his closest class friends!
With it being all about Cooper, we let him chose our lunch spot - after filling up at Smashburger, we spent the rest of our day at the Las Vegas Wetlands Park, learning and exploring! We saw TONS of rabbits and turtles, all while being led by Guide Caedyn ;)
We had quite an eventful long weekend - my parents camped at Mt. Charleston, so we spent our Friday visiting them...
And celebrating Michael's 30th Birthday...
I couldn't help but snap this picture... this is Caedyn when she doesn't get her way...
The kids spent the night up on the mountain, so Josh & I joined Michael for more celebrating without kids.
On our trip to get the kids on Saturday, we spent some time enjoying the cool mountain air - it's that time of year that begins to feel like an oven in Las Vegas!
Cooper & I even went exploring to find treasure - no treasure, but we did find a teepee and an old rusty fire ring!
We spent that evening at the ballpark, watching Gavin play in his tournament. Cooper is really interested in baseball, he wouldn't take his eyes off the field to take a picture!
We spent Sunday at Sheree & Franks, swimming & BBQing, before catching Gavin's last game of his tournament.
By the time Monday rolled around, we were exhausted. We spent the day relaxing at home, reflecting on the real reason for Memorial Day - I couldn't be more thankful for the men & women who put their lives on the line for the safety and freedoms that we take for granted each and every day! Christina & Livio, Michael, and my parents all joined us for a BBQ that afternoon, while the kids enjoyed the pool and fresh air.
Today, Cooper's last day of Kindergarten was so bittersweet - no more half days of school fun, next year starts the big leagues.
The Kinder department ended the year with a Field Day - fun games & LOTS of water! Caedyn & I got to join in the fun. Coopers group, a wild bunch of rowdy boys, laughed hard and played harder, so we couldn't help but have a great time!
Mrs. Montemayor even joined in the fun...
The water gun station was everyones favorite part - we all left drenched and laughing!
We started a new tradition - WATER BALLOON FIGHTS on the last day of school!
This year was definitely a successful year of learning & fun - not only did Cooper learn to tie his shoes, add & subtract, but he can full on READ. I couldn't be more proud of the friends he's made, the determination he's shown, and everything he has learned. We truly have one very special, kind & crazy kid on our hands!
I hope 1st Grade is ready for us!
