On Friday, we started our weekend off at the Boulder BMX track to watch Cooper's first race on the big track - I couldn't believe how well he did, and how competitive he is! He placed 3rd in his moto and got his first trophy, one of many to come - a BIG thanks to everyone who came out to support!
Saturday we spent our morning at Station 28 visiting Papa Dave - Riley tagged along to get a tour of the firehouse & barn, which she insisted should be called a 'garage, because that's what it is!'
Saturday afternoon, we spent some time at the Boulder City Wurstfest before walking Water St. for the Super Run Car Show.
We got some special visitors on Sunday - Josh's brother, Jesse, & his family came down from Spanish Fork for an overnight visit on their way to San Diego. We blew up air mattresses and the kids had a giant sleepover with their cousins - I swear our kids look like midgets next to theirs!
The week started as usual, school, homework, and bedtime.
When Wednesday rolled round, my anxiety hit in full force - Caedyn's big day finally arrived. She had a bone tumor, medically called an Osteochondroma, growing on the side of her middle finger, which needed to be removed before it started to cause damage and limit mobility.
Cooper got to spend the day with Pops, while Josh, my mom, and I kept Caedyn company at the hospital. We got to UMC early that morning, before being whisked back into surgery prep - Caedyn's nurse gave her a new baby doll, Peach, to keep her company while she slept during her surgery.
After removing her tumor, she was casted (pink, of course!) and her doctor even casted her favorite "Kitty" too! After an hour & a half in the OR, we were brought into recovery while she woke up from her anesthesia.
Once she woke up and got her bearings, we headed home to keep her relaxed and comfortable - she didn't even complain once. We spent the afternoon eating popsicles and watching cartoons, while she got used to having a new addition on her arm.
Thursday was Cooper's 'Apex Fun Run' for his school, so I joined in the activities - He got a total of $18/lap donated & ran 33 laps, I'd call that a successful fundraiser!
On Friday, the Craig's made their way back through Vegas on their way home, so we had another sleepover with their crew. After dinner, we took all of the kids out for frozen yogurt. Cooper and Jake were separated at the hip the whole night - Jake kept telling Cooper "I want to live in your house so we can be bros!".
Finally we got a break on Saturday night - the kids stayed with Grammy & Pops so we got a night out! Josh & I spent our evening at the Springs Preserve Grapes & Hops Festival, drinking and people watching, before renting 'Get Hard' and relaxing in the quiet of our own home - I don't think we've laughed that much in quite some time!
I can't express enough how EXTREMELY grateful I am for the amazing support system we have - I wouldn't have been able to make it though our crazy stressful week without each & every one of you! Thanks friends ;)
