My mother-in-law, Robin, was diagnosed in January with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a very aggressive form of brain cancer, and after a very short but difficult fight, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10th at the young age of 57. Her first sign of symptom was the end of December - this progressed so rapidly that I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that she is no longer here with us.
After her initial diagnosis, she lasted less than a month - the aggressiveness of her disease kept her in the hospital and in treatment for the majority of the time, until she went into home hospice care the beginning of February. We spent the majority of our weekends by her side, keeping her company and making sure she knew how loved she was.
It's been a very emotional and tiring time in our lives - most days, it takes all we've got just to get up and ready. This is something no one would have ever expected of Robin - she was happy, healthy, and loving life. She was a very compassionate, loving, and kind person who found her calling in life helping others. An avid photographer and animal lover, she knew how to live life to the fullest. Most of all, she loved to laugh, and we will miss her laugh.
Her services were held in Santaquin, UT, where she'd made her home in the last year - now also, her final resting place. The whole family gathered to say our final goodbyes together. Her services were beautiful, for a beautiful woman.
The world truly lost a wonderful woman, and I'm sad about it every day - our lives will never be the same.
